Initial objective

Define metrics and indicators for AI assessment at technical level

Results achieved

During the secondment at Nostrum Biodiscovery, the work focused on developing and refining the technical-level AI assessment indicators within Work Package 2 of the AHEAD project.

Building on an initial set of high-level technical indicators, Christina Papangelou and Konstantinos Kardamiliotis worked collaboratively to define a hierarchical structure of indicators (high-, mid-, and low-level), making them more precise and easier to apply. These indicators were then systematically mapped to the publications included in the AHEAD Observatory, extracting relevant evidence from the literature and linking it to the appropriate assessment criteria.

As the work progressed, the indicator set was consolidated and harmonised, with clear definitions, references, scope, and relationships between indicators documented in a shared resource. While the initial work focused on technical indicators, the same structured approach was also extended to societal and ethical indicators, laying the foundation for a harmonised AI assessment framework.

The outcome of the secondment is a well-structured and curated collection of AI assessment indicators that provides a solid foundation for the AHEAD Observatory and the ongoing development of multidisciplinary AI evaluation metrics.
